As a people company, we have taken a step forward to gain the prestigious Investors in People Gold award. Gaining the IIP Gold award has encouraged us to communicate more effectively throughout our business and this has played an important role in creating a more positive working environment. The achievement of this prestigious Gold Investors in People status is in recognition of the hard work delivered by all DCUK FM staff to improve the leadership, management and development of our staff, enabling us to transform through our people.
The Investors In People Gold Award is awarded to organisations demonstrating best practice in people management and development. Following a rigorous assessment that included lengthy interviews with a large number of staff from right across the company, we are now one of the 22,160 recognised organisations by IIP, and only 2.7% have achieved the Gold award to date (statistics from December 2011)
As part of our investors in people accreditation, DCUK FM recognises the need to continually develop in the industry. Individual training is dependent upon job role and previous experience. Where appropriate training needs analysis, (TNA) are carried out to identify the correct route forward for an individual. The purpose of the TNA form is to gauge and find a clear line of progression for each individual employee. Due consideration is afforded to the following factors:
Legislative requirements
Individuals Ability
Individuals level of responsibility
Individuals Literacy capabilities
The level of risk within their employment.
Appraisals and TNAs are then taken into account for the following annual appraisal for each employee.
The company managers understand that learning and development is not just about training courses – it is about every individual being inspired to make the most of opportunities and continuously seeking to improve and enhance their skills and performance. Examples of training and development activity include – formal courses, job shadowing, coaching, reading, simulation and projects.
All site teams have 3 mobile IT systems in the form of iPads, Windows laptops and iPhones. The iPads and laptops provide direct realtime access to either the company’s servers or to the company’s cloud based systems. The iPads are used as a more flexible device in terms of size and viewing, with the laptops used for more detailed data input tasks or viewing.
We are an Equal Opportunities Employer.
