Every day, hundreds of thousands of children are being exposed to Asbestos contaminated materials in schools across the country. Figures obtained from Freedom of Information requests show that a huge 86% of all schools within the UK contain the killer dust*.
Many campaigners believe that the seriousness of this issue has been brushed aside by successive governments, as asbestos related deaths predominately occur over the age of 70 and the disease can take decades to develop.
Britain has the highest death rate from Mesothelioma anywhere in the World, with latest figures showing 2,535 related deaths a year, with around 300 of these are due to exposure in schools.
The Government has recently produced the ‘Asbestos in Schools’ report, which stipulates that compulsory Asbestos Awareness training for teachers and support staff will now take place. Ductclean (UK) Ltd offer specialist, clear and detailed Asbestos Awareness Courses, conducted at our bespoke UKATA approved Training facilities, located at our Head Office, Welwyn Garden City.
