After months of training and sacrificing many of his favourite food and drinks, last weekend it all became worthwhile, as Ductclean’s Accounts Manager, Richard Groom, completed the BUPA Great North Run on behalf of the Isabel Hospice, a charity set up to help provide care and support for adults with life limiting conditions across Hertfordshire.
Richard set himself an 11 week training programme, gradually increasing the distanced he covered on each run leading up to the event, however the 13.1 mile course was no match for Richard, as he completed the race in a respectable time of 2 hours 15 minutes. Richard even had to run an additional 0.9 miles further than the length of the race, as he weaved his way in and out of the crowds, trying to overtake the other 56,000 entrants.
The day was a huge success personally for Richard, raising over £1,000 for a wonderful cause, and one that is close to himself and his family’s heart. If anyone would like to make a post-event contribution, please go to; https://www.justgiving.com/R-Groom
