DCUK FM are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the contract for the smoke and fire damper inspection, testing and maintenance at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The general requirement and scope of the contract is to carry out 12 monthly Inspection, Testing & Maintenance of all fire and smoke dampers to current BESA guidance TB/001 and other Codes of Practice; this forming an essential part of the planned preventative Maintenance (PPM).
Building owners have a legal duty to comply with the Regulatory Reform Act (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Article 17 of the Fire Safety Order requires a suitable maintenance regime to ensure relevant fire safety equipment is kept in an efficient state. This includes fire and smoke dampers. Article 18 of the Fire Safety Order requires the building owner’s ‘Responsible Person’ to appoint one or more ‘Competent Persons’ to assist in undertaking the preventative and protective measures to ensure compliance
