The works were to undertake the removal of all asbestos containing materials from within the University House and Student Union building to facilitate a complete ‘Back to Shell’ refurbishment Project. Asbestos insulation debris including sectional asbestos was found within void areas over 5 floors to the size of approximately 1500m on each floor, the asbestos debris was found to be in the ceilings, floor voids, trenches, risers and 2 No. plant rooms.
Summary of works:
The works included the removal of all ceilings and associated frame work, the removal of all pipe work, ductwork and electrical cables throughout the building
In order to carry out the removal of the roof top plant room a “top hat” scaffold was erected over the plant room to which we built a fully tented enclosure bellow.
In order to remove all of the debris from within the building the floors were sectioned of in to zones and then enclosures erected to each zone.
