We have recently finished a large scale project for Mansell Construction Plc which involves the industrial cleaning of ventilation shafts on the Victoria line, industrial cleaning of the canopies in various station such as King's Cross, and other ongoing projects.
Headstone Lane Station - For this over ground station the works included the cleaning to underside and topside glazed glass areas on the Station Platforms 1 and 2 including the glass canopies over the platforms. The cleaning was carried out with our reach & wash cleaning system; an extendable pole system which can produce up to 1000 litres of heated pure water.
Watford High Street Station - The works are Watford High Street station are very similar to those at Headstone Lane however this project included the cleaning of all gutters, glass canopies and removal of pigeon netting on the station platforms. All moss and vegetation forming on the glass canopies were also removed. Our operational staff also carried out installation of surveying targets for future use.
King’s Cross, Palace Street & Netherton Road Station - The project taking place on the Victoria line at the above three stations is nicknamed “The Cooling of the Tube” project. This project is long-term industrial cleaning of the ventilation shafts which will be used to extract all heat from the underground stations on the Victoria line. This will gradually reduce the temperature and humidity within the tube stations and become more comfortable for the public using these facilities.
We have so far installed fresh air ventilation systems and ductwork reaching from ground level to the ventilation shafts.
Within King’s Cross Station we have also removed rubbish from within the ventilation shafts leading through the Victoria line.
Pulross Road Station - DCUK FM recently carried out an asbestos removal project for the removal of asbestos contaminated rope at the Pulross Road Station.
Summary of works:
Most projects were carried out during engineering hours however the works on the underground were carried out during traffic hours. All access for these projects is carried out on Railway MEWPs
